The trail winds through the hills of Gaillacois, where the vineyard, prominent in the landscape, is marked by its undulating rows. The hiker will discover a noble heritage (castles) and a viticultural one (vine huts, dovecotes, farm cellars).

The Mauriac Castel, founded by a Templar, was enhanced thanks to pastel in the 15th century. It was besieged by Catholic troops during the Wars of Religion. In 1960, the painter Bernard Bistes bought and began renovating it. This castel is open for visits and rentals.
Not far away, the Château de Salette (13th and 15th centuries) was the residence of the cadet branch of the Toulouse-Lautrec family. The famous General d'Hautpoul grew up there before playing a major role in the Napoleonic Wars. In 1994, the Salettes vineyards and the château were purchased to become a hotel, restaurant, and winery
