Oenorando® La ronde des vignerons
THE GAILLAC VINEYARD
The vineyard appears 50 km from Toulouse. It begins at the borders of Haute-Garonne and Tarn, extending to the edges of the Albigeois region. The Tarn River, one of the main tributaries of the Garonne, along with the Vère River, organizes the vineyard into three approximate thirds, each corresponding to a specific terroir:
- The alluvial terraces on the left bank (soils of pebbles, sand, and gravel)
- The hillsides on the right bank (clay-limestone soils)
- The Cordais plateau (limestone soils)
Conditions everywhere are favorable for vine cultivation. The climate ideally combines oceanic and Mediterranean influences. Gaillac is also swept by the beneficial Autan wind, a drying wind that ensures extraordinarily healthy harvests for the winemakers.
Recognized as an AOC since 1938, the Gaillac vineyard is a stronghold of ancient grape varieties. While winemakers everywhere enjoy rediscovering old grape varieties that were sometimes set aside, our vineyard is among those that have never broken with their history. Our grape varieties define our identity: Mauzac, Loin de l'œil, and Ondenc for whites; Braucol, Duras, and Prunelart for reds.
The array of our wines is radiant with profiles and flavors, including fresh white, red, and rosé wines, still and sparkling wines, and dry and sweet wines, all united by a common base of grape varieties
Description
- From the parking lot, follow the small vineyard that descends towards the entrance gate of the estate. Turn left before reaching the gate to carefully cross the road. Ascend through the vineyards and turn left towards the large oak tree. Pass in front of the oak tree and continue to the next intersection. Enjoy the beautiful view of the Rhodes Castel and the Church of Notre Dame de Boissel. Turn right and follow this path to reach the D922 at the entrance to Boissel. At the road, turn left and take the small street below the main road.
- In the center of the hamlet, turn right, cross the road, go around the wine cellars on the left, and follow the path that is shared with the "Vineyards and Castles" circuit. Ignore all right or left paths until the designated point.
- Ignore the "Vineyards and Castles" route that continues to the right and instead, ascend the path to the left. This path runs along a ridge and offers a beautiful view of the vineyard. Continue straight, pass under the ruins of a farmhouse, and after approximately 350 meters, turn left and descend along the hedge to the D922.
- Cross the road and continue on the path to "Mas d’Oustry".
- Here, the path rejoins the "Vineyards and Castles" circuit. In the hamlet, turn left and descend to La Gariguette. Cross the small road and take the path leading to Rhodes. At the intersection with the road, in front of the cemetery, turn right, pass by the wine cellars, cross the small bridge over the stream, and after approximately 250 meters, turn left. At the intersection, take the right path that you followed earlier to return to the starting point
